Minister for Children welcomes the Fourth Report of the Special Rapporteur on Child Protection

Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald, T.D. has welcomed the Fourth Report of the Special Rapporteur on Child Protection, Mr. Geoffrey Shannon.

"Mr. Shannon’s report is stark reading and shows a number of problems in the child protection system in Ireland" said Minister Fitzgerald.

Child protection has been very sadly neglected by previous governments. The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny has recognised this and established a dedicated Department of Children and Youth Affairs.
