Mountjoy Square Library to close early on Tuesday 21 December

Due to adverse weather conditions and increasing difficulties with public transport all DIT buildings will close, at the latest, at 4pm today to enable staff and students to make their way home. We regret this inconvenience.

Mountjoy Square Library Christmas Opening Hours

The Library will be operating the following hours during the Christmas period.

Mon 20th December - Weds 22nd Dec - Normal Hours

Thursday 23rd December - 9.30am - 5.00 pm (Provisional check with the Library before visiting)

Friday 24th to Monday 3rd January CLOSED inclusive

Tuesday 4th January - Normal Hours resume

Mountjoy Square Library - 2 Extra Books for Christmas

From Monday13th of December students will be able to borrow 8 books at a given time rather than the usual 6. This will apply until close of business on Thursday 23rd of December.

Cinema digitisation scheme announced

The Arts Council and the Irish Film Board today announced the second round of the Cinema Digitisation Scheme. The scheme is a joint initiative of the Arts Council and the Irish Film Board, and is funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

Need for vigilance in relation to elder abuse

Ms Ɓine Brady TD, Minister for Older People and Health Promotion, said that people must be alert to the risk of elder abuse and to take the necessary action if they have suspicions. The Minister was commenting on the launch of the HSE Elder Abuse Service Report 2009.

Fifth Annual Report of the Commission for the Support of Victims of Crime

The Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr. Dermot Ahern, T.D., today published the fifth annual report of the Commission for the Support of Victims of Crime for the year 2009. The Commission has been disbursing funds since 2005 to organisations engaged in supporting victims of crime.

Arts Council announces 2010 funding decisions

The Arts Council, An Chomhairle EalaĆ­on, the government agency for funding and developing the arts, has made its major grant allocations for 2010, distributing in excess of €49m to more than 350 arts organisations. Letters detailing news of the decisions were posted on Friday.

Arts Council releases research on visual artists’ workspaces and public engagement with architecture


Following consultation with visual artists’ studio groups and residential facilities as part of the Partnership for the Arts consultation process, the need for a clear Arts Council policy on its support for artists’ workspaces was identified.
